Do I need insurance?

Yes, you must have adequate travel insurance to cover you for an activity holiday. Please be aware that we often walk in areas inaccessible to vehicles. Should you injure yourself and need rescuing by mountain rescue helicopter the cost is around 3000€. An insurance policy to cover this event can easily be purchased for very little money. Please also make sure you are covered in the event you have to cancel your holiday.

Once we have discussed and agreed a destination and itinerary we will send you a booking form which you need to complete and return together with a deposit of £100 per person. We will provide you with our bank details.

Can I make a change after I have booked my holiday?

If you need to make a change to your holiday we will do all we can to accommodate you. Obviously this will depend on our availability should you be altering the date and of course the availability of the appropriate hotel, house or apartment.

Our walks are in mountainous areas so some ascents and descents are necessary. You do need to have a decent level of fitness but this varies depending on the level or grade of the walks. For more details please go to the page detailing the walks.

What if we find the walks too easy or too difficult?

When we discuss your holiday we will have a good idea of the level of fitness of your group. If after the first walk you feel that you need to alter the level of walk then we will change the itinerary accordingly.

Is there a different walk on each day?

Yes, we try to vary our walks so that you see as much of the area as possible.

Can I come as a non walker?

It is not compulsory to walk! If you want or need to have a relaxing day or to do something else that is fine.

How old do I have to be?

The minimum age to join us is 18, except for families with children aged at least 12.

What meals are provided?

Our “ All Inclusive “ guests staying in our village houses or apartments in Frigiliana are provided with a breakfast pack. Every walking day we provide a pack lunch of fruit, sandwiches, drinks and snacks. Every day apart from your free day we provide 5 three course evening meals in our village restaurants including wine and one late lunch.

Our guests in the Alpujarra, Grazalema and Cabo de Gata destinations stay in hotels on a bed and breakfast basis. On the 5 walking days we provide a pack lunch and every day apart from the free day we provide a three course meal in village restaurants including wine.

What is included in the breakfast pack?

You tell us what you want. For your arrival we will have purchased what we think will be enough for your breakfasts for the week. Normally the pack will include tea, coffee, milk and orange juice to drink and then bread, margarine, eggs, ham, cheese, fruit and cereal. If you need anything else there are always village grocery shops but please remember that these close during the siesta between 2pm and 5pm.

Can you cater for special diets?

Yes of course. Any special dietary needs need to be detailed on your booking form. We will then make appropriate changes to all your meals. All our restaurants cater for different diets.

Can I drink tap water?

Yes, in Spain tap water is safe to drink. If you prefer bottled water it is sold everywhere and is cheap to buy.

What does an average day entail?

After breakfast we meet you at an agreed time and either begin our walk from the village or we drive you to the start point. During the walk we stop for a leisurely lunch before resuming. At the end of the walk we try to allow time to relax for a while in a village bar before returning to your accommodation. We will of course talk about what we are planning for you tomorrow. You will then have plenty of time to prepare for your evening meal. In Spain people eat late and many restaurants don’t open until 7 or 7.30pm so we aim to reserve your table from 7.30pm.

What do we do on our free day?

We normally have a free day after the third walking day. You choose what you want to do, either rest and enjoy your village or there are options which vary with each destination and will be explained to you. There will also be an option for you to be taken to spend the day in one of our fine cities.

What happens if we have bad weather?

Even Spain encounters adverse weather from time to time but it is very rare for us to have to cancel a walk. We try to be adaptable and work around bad weather. We will consider changing a walk if conditions dictate but we will never take risks. If we do have to cancel a walk we will discuss with you alternative options.

What happens if we injure ourselves during a walk?

We are trained Emergency First Responders and always carry a First Aid kit. We also have mobile contact with emergency services.

What facilities are there in the village?

In every village you stay there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Every village has a pharmacy and banks with ATM machines.

What happens on the day we leave?

Sadly all good things come to an end! On the day you leave we will meet you at your accommodation and take you to the airport. We aim to arrive at your airport at least 2 hours before your flight.
