WE HAVE 4 SPACES LEFT FOR OUR WALKING HOLIDAY IN THE SIERRA DE GRAZALEMA, 4TH TO 11TH OF NOVEMBER 2025.
The Alpujarra is unique in Spain. This area is a natural and historical area unlike any other part of Europe. The Alpujarra lies on the southern, sunny side of the Sierra Nevada and consists of an area of beautiful white villages interconnected with stunning walks amidst orchards watered by melting snow.
Our base is one of the “pueblos bonitos de Espana”, Capileira, an outstandingly pretty village 4500 feet above sea level with unique architecture deriving from many centuries ago and similar to the villages of the rif mountains of morocco.
Today Capileira is the base for many outdoor activities in this region, hiking, cycling and horse riding. Due to the height of this region, it can be enjoyed most times of the year. The Alpujarra is nestled in the foothills of the highest area in Spain. several mountains exceed 10,000 feet and the highest in mainland Spain is Mulhacen at 11,424 feet.
The walking in this area is exhilarating and varied, from lower level walks linking the villages to higher level hikes even to the top of Mulhacen.
Capileira village offers everything one needs for a week in the mountains, rustic hotels and restaurants serving hearty dishes such as the plato alpujareno, and local bars adorned with hanging hams.

The Hotel Finca Los Llanos awaits our guests in La Alpujarra. Situated in beautiful, natural surroundings on the edge of the village, the hotel is just two minutes on foot to the centre of Capileira.
We use Superior Double Rooms with private bathrooms and balconies with lovely views and for our solo guests single rooms, again with private bathrooms and also with a view from the room.
The hotel rooms are contained in three wings named after the authors Gerald Brennand and Washington Irving and the famous poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, all of whom lived in this area at some time.
At the rear of the hotel are the lovely gardens and swimming pool and behind the reception area is a large cosy lounge and bar with log fire. Wifi is available in this area.
The hotel has it’s own restaurant where a wide selection of tasty food is served for evening meals and breakfast.
We will eat here one evening and then arrange evening meals at our favourite village restaurants in Capileira.
